“Baby, its alright” is the first painting that I made after Operation Cast Lead. The image is of my little sister holding my nephew. The tenderness and protective gesture felt comforting to me. It also called to mind the parents in Gaza attempting to protect their children while under fire. In that gesture-- I saw love, comfort, fear, and danger. The image is very dark and sheltered in a heavy layer of varnish. It is the obscured glimmer of beauty in the shadows waiting to be seen again.
